Where do you live?
I currently live in Tinley Park, IL but grew up outside of Dallas, TX.
Tell us about your education background.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA. I am also an ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence.
Tell us about your professional background.
I have spent my entire career in reliability, starting in aerospace and also working in electronics, automation equipment, heavy equipment, network communication equipment, and medical devices, progressing from engineer to director to senior staff positions.
How have you given back to the reliability profession?
I am currently serving as the Chair-Elect of the ASQ Reliability Division and am also the Regional Councilor Coordinator. I am the Chapter Coordinator for the Society of Reliability Engineers. I serve on the Reliability & Maintainability Symposium’s Management Committee. I am also a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management. In addition, I have written a few papers on reliability and presented and provided training at local and national reliability and quality events.
What do you enjoy most about reliability?
I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and doing reliability analysis and tasks myself and also coaching and teaching others how reliability helps them and their organizations succeed.
What do you do for fun and relaxation?
My wife and I enjoy hiking, biking, music, art, and travelling.
What is reliability in your own words?
Reliability ensures the quality that the customer bought lasts over the usage life they expect. This earns customer loyalty and is friendly to the environment since more things work and less things get thrown away.
