ASQ RRD series webinar: Reliability and Risk Div. and Aviation Space and Defense Div. on Problem Solving/Causal
Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis are not confined to product and/or process issues after release. It is common to experience problems during all phases of systems development, from feasibility through obsolescence. As these ‘systems’ become more and more complex we are confronted with challenges that demand greater versatility of approach. This webinar will review some of the optional approaches that are growing in popularity as well as to propose a prescriptive approach aimed at gaining the most efficiency and effectiveness out of the RCA process. Content will include coverage of Decision Theory to illuminate undesirable influences on the decision process as well as to reveal unavoidable human cognitive limitations. Limited coverage of Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) as well as Divergent Problem Solving and Retrospective Analysis will be included.
In an attempt to provide alternative perspectives on this topic, a host speaker from ASD will provide commentary on the content, the need for evolutionary advancement of problem solving /RCA and the desired future result of such advancement.
